About Triveni

What does Triveni mean?

Triveni refers to the Sangam of 3 holy rivers found at Prayag in India. They are Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. This most holy site is also known as Prayag Raj, as it is revered as the King of all Tirth Sthaan in India. Considered to be Pavitra, it is believed that all Hindus and indeed all people can be absolved of sins if they take a bath in this holy confluence of sacred rivers.

Every year in the month of Maagh, Hindu devotees gather at Prayag to perform Kalpvaas for one lunar month, during which they take Ganga snaan and Shahi snaan. The all famous Kumbh Mela is also held at the sacred site of Prayag.

The founders of the Brampton Triveni Mandir are great devotees of Ganga Mata, and so have decided to name this great Mandir Triveni, in honor of Prayag. They have lived at their own Triveni Sangam in Bartica, Guyana, where the three rivers, Essequibo, Cuyuni, and Mazaruni, also meet. With the Aashirvad of Bhagwati Ganga, this Mandir will be a beacon for all Hindus, serving to enlighten them and bring them closer to Paramatmaa.
